Anna Elder

Center Manager

Anna grew up in an itty-bitty farming town in Colorado. Anna was very proud to be the Valedictorian of her graduating class of 10 in 1994. In college, she was surprised when her achievement was often initially dismissed. While she worked hard to earn that designation, she understands now why others didn’t immediately value it as highly as she did. Competition is FIERCE in large school districts like JCPS and the surrounding areas. And, while she had the luxury of small class sizes and a good deal of one-on-one time with her instructors to tailor her learning and explore independently, her daughter’s average class ratio has been closer to 25:1. The teachers she's encountered are fabulous, care deeply about their students, and are committed to providing a quality education. However, the reality is that they must generally teach to the masses and the standardized tests, not necessarily to the individual learning of each student. This is where Anna hopes we can impact students the most: tailoring their learning paths to provide a boost where they may currently struggle AND introducing challenges where they already excel, giving them the confidence to be able to participate fully in their learning in school and for life.

In Anna's first career, she had been a Programmer Analyst and Project Manager for 21 years, after earning a BS in Business Administration, with concentrations in Computer Information Systems and Accounting from Colorado State University. Anna is a wife and mother of 16 years, residing in Louisville, KY since 2001. Her daughter is an amazing vocalist at the Youth Performing Arts School of duPont Manual High School and you might see her around town performing at various music festivals. Her household is also home to 7 very different, mostly-lovable, but sometimes temperamental, cats. She enjoys travelling, reading, and watching most any genre of movie. Anna is a proud supporter of PTA and arts in education and has held several PTA and parent group board positions over the years. This involvement in local schools has shaped her passion for her newest career, focused on making assistance in academic achievement affordable and supporting busy parents as they coach their children to a confident and successful future.

Anna wants families to feel welcome and all the kids to be comfortable and have fun while learning! Anna looks forward to welcoming you into the center for a tour and seeing if you have an amusing answer to our Riddle of the Week!
